ABOUT ME
Hello, and welcome to my website.
I hold a California Life Teaching Credential and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of California. I have been previously employed by the Santa Barbara County as a Family Custody Mediator. I have been trained and have maintained the required credentials to provide forensic services related to custody and parenting issues. I have enjoyed practicing in the Santa Barbara community for over 30 years.
I have five children and eight grandchildren in a successfully blended family. I have experience with the challenges of single parenting, step-parenting, and blended families. I also offer therapeutic guidance and support for those of you in bereavement or who are caretakers for loved ones.
My private psychotherapy practice includes individual, couple, child and family psychotherapy. Treatment emphasizes inter-personal relationships and psychodynamic introspection. Most often insight and self-exploration provide the framework with which to approach problematic concerns. Based on professional and personal experience, I offer therapeutic guidance and support for those of you experiencing bereavement or providing care for loved ones.
Each person brings unique issues to the therapeutic process. My goals are to identify the issues and approach treatment in collaboration with my client, in a way to be compassionate, practical, supportive and effective. License number LMFT 30172.
My Curriculum Vitae is available upon request.
FORENSIC PROCESSES
"The problems between the parents become the problems within the child." - Roger Gould
Mediation: a confidential process, which serves to provide a neutral setting for parents to discuss and strive to resolve parenting issues of scheduling and cooperation.
Recommending Mediation: a process that offers the opportunity to explore parenting and visitation schedules. Recommendations may be made to parents, attorneys and/or the Court. Participation in the process requires agreement between the parents.
3111 Child Custody Evaluation: a process that evaluates parents in high and chronic conflict regarding custodial issues, with the goal of serving the best interests of the children. This process may occur with agreement between the parents or by order of the Court.
Special Master, Parenting Coordination: most usually a post-judgement process that manages ongoing and unresolvable issues of parenting, co-parenting and custody issues. The process supports parents with entrenched conflict and yields decisions for the parents and children. The Court is the final arbiter; however, these processes are alternatives to Court intervention. Parents may agree to participation or the Court may order the processes.
Consultation: assisting attorneys and parents in navigating various custodial issues and processes.
